Walda Blow Aboriginal Children and Young People Award 2024

We are so happy to share that BDAC's garinga bupup ('growing babies' in Djaara language) won The Walda Blow Aboriginal Children and Young People Award at the Victorian Protecting Children's Awards on 2nd September 2024.

We’re so proud of this program, where we walk alongside mothers on their pregnancy and newborn journey, supporting their connection to Culture, Community, family and any supports necessary to help their family be strong and safe.

We do this work because supporting our Community is what we exist for. While it means a lot to us to have our work recognised, our hope is that by having the work of programs like garinga bupup showcased, it demonstrates that when Aboriginal people are at the forefront of decisions that impact our lives- and mob are designing services for mob - real impact happens.

Congratulations garinga bupup team and thank you to the families who have shared the journey with us.

Wurreker Award 2023

BDAC was honoured to accept a Wurreker Award in October 2023 from the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Inc. (VAEAI), with our Careers Hub pilot recognised in the Community Employer category.

The VAEAI Awards celebrate the people and organisations that passionately contribute to Koorie training, education and employment, and highlights how high-quality learning and experience can open new pathways for Koorie people.

RACGP Victoria General Practice of the Year 2019 - BDAC Medical Clinic

BDAC's then CEO, Raylene Harradine, together with BDAC Medical Clinic staff, had the privilege to attend the RACGP Victoria annual event in Melbourne where our clinic was the recipient of the RACGP Statewide award.

“These moments don’t just happen; they are driven by the hard work and commitment of staff through teamwork and leadership within the clinic. I recall when I commenced in the role as CEO that I quoted that my vision was that BDAC become an Aboriginal organisation of Excellence and this is happening”. I want to acknowledge the following staff who attended for their dedication - Dr Naren, Christine Gibbons, Jaydene Burzacott, Crystal West, Heather Gale, Kate O’Callaghan and Dallas Widdicombe and also Barry Fary for his support.”
